Today is a momentous day for the institution where I teach, as Capital Bible Seminary is relaunching as Capital Seminary & Graduate School and thus becomes the graduate-school arm of Lancaster Bible College.

The mission of Capital will stay the same:  “To educate Christian men and women to think and live a biblical worldview and to proclaim Christ by serving Him in the Church and society.” The seminary will focus on developing servant leaders for the church, while the graduate school will focus on equipping men and women for effective ministry in society.

What is especially exciting to me is how Capital Seminary & Graduate School seeks to fulfill its mission. Here are the school’s distinctives:

  • Conservative evangelical theology promoting strategic partnerships.
  • Global accessibility achieved through leveraging technology.
  • An academic environment that is rooted in and fosters adult learning.
  • Competency-based curriculum that develops practical skills.
  • Leadership development focus that produces character and competency.
  • Mediated learning, blending the strengths of face-to-face instruction and online learning.
  • Cohort learning communities that create deep, meaningful, life-on-life relationships.
  • A seminary and graduate school that is local, national, and global.
  • A vertical campus that maximizes the stewardship of resources.

CSGS offers a variety of academic programs:

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership
  • Master of Divinity
  • Master of Arts in Biblical Studies
  • Master of Arts in Christian Counseling & Discipleship
  • Master of Arts in Ministry (concentrations in Adult Ministries, Children & Family Ministry, Church Planting, Leadership Studies, Pastoral Studies, Sports Ministry, Student Ministry, and Town & Country Ministry)
  • Master of Arts in Professional Counseling
  • Master of Education
  • Graduate certificate programs

In keeping with our commitment to global accessibility through the use of modern technology, current locations include Lancaster, PA; Greenbelt, MD; Springfield, VA; Indianapolis, IN; Philadelphia, PA; and Boca Raton, FL.

The need is great and the potential is huge. I am excited to see how God uses Capital Seminary & Graduate School for kingdom impact!

Ken, the hope is that we will offer it in the future (maybe 2015?) but it is not planned for this fall. If you or anyone you know is interested in the other programs, there will be an info session on Tuesday evening, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at Crossroads Bible College.
