You Know What We Need?

Beware if someone comes up to you and asks, “You know what we need?” In my experience that question is often code for, “Here’s what you should do.”

Don’t automatically take that monkey and put it on your back. If someone makes a suggestion, affirm their idea and their concern for the ministry.  Then invite them to meet the need they have uncovered. Often the problem is valid, but that doesn’t mean you are the person automatically responsible to fix it.

Use these conversations as opportunities for leadership development — both of yours.
